Palladio did the original architectural design of the Teatro Olimpico. Scamozzi also participated in the theatre design, including oil-lamp lighting. The five wings show use of linear perspective, emphasizing Classical architecture. Five wings are employed, one facing the audience. This evolved into flats and oblique wings in parallel. Wings in parallel (paired) allowed the use of machines to shut or open pairs of wings simultaneously. The stage scenery shown here was designed by Vincenzo Scamozzi.
